Properly prepare metal surfaces for painting or coating using POR-15 Cleaner Degreaser and POR-15 Metal Prep etching solution. Prepping metal is key to having a successful paint job. Works with all opaque paints. 

For best results, remove all loose rust, grime, dirt, and old paint. For extremely oily and greasy surfaces, use the Cleaner Degreaser without diluting. For normal use, mix 4 to 1 with warm water. For second cleanings, you can dilute up to 10 to 1 with water. Soak the metal surface with cleaner and agitate with a scuffing pad and rinse with water. Once dry, use the Metal Prep to soak the surface and keep wet with the solution for 30-45 minutes. Don't allow it to dry on surface. After 30-45 minutes, thoroughly rinse with water and let the surface completely dry before coating or painting. You may see white powdery haze after it dries. This is Zinc compounds created by the Metal Prep and helps protect the surface from rusting. You can coat, prime, or paint over it.
