To get the best results, use the best pre-paint prep products!.

Properly prepare metal surfaces for painting or coating using POR-15 Cleaner Degreaser and POR-15 Metal Prep etching and rust neutralizing solution. Prepping metal is key to having a successful paint job. This etch and clean solution works with all opaque paints. Designed for use on new bare metal, old rusty metal, and sand blasted (media blasted) metal.

For best results, remove all loose rust, grime, dirt, and old paint. For extremely oily and greasy surfaces, use the Cleaner Degreaser without diluting. For normal use, mix 4 to 1 with warm water. For second cleanings, you can dilute up to 10 to 1 with water. Soak the metal surface with cleaner and agitate with a scuffing pad or brush and rinse with water. Once dry, use the Metal Prep to soak the surface and keep wet with the solution for 30-45 minutes. Don't allow it to dry on the surface. After 30-45 minutes, thoroughly rinse with water and let the surface completely dry before coating or painting. You may see white powdery haze after it dries. This is Zinc compounds created by the Metal Prep and helps protect the surface from rusting. You can coat, prime, or paint over it.

    used for over 12 years

Very happy with POR15 so far. Bought my Wrangler in 2014, noticed some rust under the car in a few months since the purchase, and sought after the answer. Didn't have to go very far as I found a Youtube back then of Jay Leno and POR15. Jay painted 2 thick steel rods and when he banged them together no damage, scratches or chips. Since then POR15 has improved things with the Top Coat. In 2014 I only applied the degrease, metal prep and POR15, as I was supposeed to go with another enamel type coating to keep the sun off my POR15. I didn't and the POR15 mostly held up 12 years, but some did peal off. Today I am confident this new coating will last. I used both the degrease and metal prep porocedures followed by both the POR15 rust preventer, and the Top Coat.
