If you drive a car with a set of old steelies, your brakes can be ugly as sin, but if you have a nice set of rollers that show off the brake rotors and calipers, you might want to address the mess. Crusty, rusty brake calipers become a focal point behind the wheels, taking away from the overall look of your ride. Don’t stress it, you don’t have to send parts off to get powder coated, you can simply coat them yourself with a kit from POR-15.
The problem with painting brake calipers is that they get quite hot, upwards of 300 degrees Fahrenheit. You need paint that can not only handle the heat, but also the chemicals that are used on brakes. Rattle-can paint will just melt off when sprayed with brake cleaner, even the high-temp stuff. Add to that the fact the cast iron calipers rust up nearly instantly, you need a coating that will protect the underlying metal from rusting while ensuring that the paint sticks.
POR-15’s Caliper Paint Kit provides everything you need to get the job done, including gloves, brushes, cleaner, metal prep, and the most important piece, POR-15 Rust Preventative. The rust preventive coating bonds directly to the metal through both chemical and mechanical means, as well as provides am adhesion layer for the caliper paint itself. Once fully cured, the paint is resistant to most chemicals, and is extremely durable, giving you years of great-looking service.
