POR-15 anti-rust paint is a high performance coating designed to paint directly on prepped rusted or seasoned metal surfaces to stop rust permanently. POR-15 Rust Preventive Paint is non-porous and seals and protects many surfaces from water, chemicals, fertilizer, salt, and other corrosive contaminants. Also, this POR-15® rust inhibitor and encapsulator is able to be painted over surface rust. This anti-rust paint is an effective anti-corrosive and rust preventive coating that offers superior chemical resistance due to its dense, cross-linked molecular composition and non-porous attributes.

The secret lies in POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating's curing process. Most paints dry through evaporation, but POR-15 anti-rust paint dries faster when moisture is present. This rust inhibitive paint has the opposite chemistry of ordinary paints. Now add to that POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating incredible hardness, toughness, and flexibility and you have a coating that is practically indestructible. POR-15 Rust Preventive Paint is a permanent rust repair great for auto frame and chassis restoration, protecting valuable equipment against rust and corrosion. Step-by-step Restoration

Before: Heavily rusted diamond-plate pickup truck beds can be a problem, fix them permanently with the POR-15 3-Step System.

Step 1: Clean it! Remove loose rust and degrease the surface with a water-based Cleaner Degreaser

Step 2: Prep it! Neutralize rust and etch with Metal Prep.

Step 3: Coat it! After thorough washing and drying, coat with POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating, right onto the rust!

For areas exposed to U.V. light: Topcoat with Top Coat, 2K Urethane, or other top coat of your choice.

After: Now you have a PERMANENTLY repaired truck bed, that will NOT rust again.

Metal that is near white rough media blasted provides the best surface for coatings. If not possible, remove all built-up dirt, loose rust, and paint. Note that if you leave old paint behind, the rust preventive can only adhere as strongly as the paint it is applied over. This generally is not as strong as applying to prepped and scuffed-up bare metal. For new metal or smooth surfaces, roughen with 100-180 grit pad/paper.

These products should only be handled when wearing latex gloves, eye protection, and NOSHA approved respirator. Always work in a well-ventilated area.

Step 1. Apply our POR-15 Cleaner Degreaser to a surface, keep wet 10-15 minutes and agitate the surface with a scuff pad or stiff brush to break up oil and grease. Then rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow the surface to dry. Repeat if surface is still oily or greasy. It is important Not to allow the product to dry on the surface while working or prior to rinsing with water. POR-15 Cleaner Degreaser can be diluted 4:1 for normal degreasing or up to 10:1 for second round degreasing with warm water. POR-15 Cleaner Degreaser is a heavy duty water soluble cleaner that may be used over metal, wood, fiberglass, vinyl, and concrete.

Step 2. Apply POR-15 Metal Prep to the bare metal surface, keep wet with Metal Prep for 15-25 minutes for normal use and 25-45 minutes for heavy rust and new metal, then rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow the surface to dry completely. Once dry the surface may show a flash rust or white powdery residue this is perfectly normal. POR-15 Metal Prep provides the best surface profile and greatly improves paint adhesion to any type of metal surface for opaque paints and coatings.

Step 3. Wearing gloves, eye/face protection, and a properly fitted NOSHA approved respirator is recommended when applying POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating. Surface must be clean and completely dry. Do Not shake. Mix by stirring until all solids at the bottom of the can are dissolved. Mixing may be done with a drill mixer on slow to medium speed or by hand. It is recommended to apply two thin covering coats of POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating. Three thin coats may be needed for extreme industrial and marine applications. Apply the first coat to the properly prepared substrate with a brush, roller, or HVLP (proper PPE required). Apply the second coat when the first coat is dry but still slightly tacky to the touch. If POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating is applied too heavy, brush marks or bubbles may result in the finish. Do not apply this product if the humidity is above 75%. If the humidity is too high POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating will surface dry too quickly which may result in small bubbles in the finish. POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating requires an UV safe opaque topcoat only if exposed to direct sunlight. Best chemical adhesion to POR-15 Rust Preventive is when it is dry but still tacky (it has a finger drag). If the rust preventive is already completely dried or cured, you must wait 24 hours and gently scuff the surface with a maroon pad or 280-320 grit sandpaper for mechanical adhesion of a second coat or a topcoat.

If your project will be exposed to U.V. light, topcoat it with an opaque POR-15 TopCoat, Engine Enamel, Caliper Paint, Detail Paint, or 2K Urethane industrial topcoat. You can topcoat with most other UV safe opaque paint as well.
