P.O.R. Products is known for formulating products with the capabilities of creating complete systems for various automotive restoration needs. The POR-15 3-Step Rust Preventive System is designed to stop rust on metal surfaces and ensures the best results when applying POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating. The clear-cut process allows for the proper cleaning, prepping, and coating; and when used correctly, our 3-Step System creates a non-porous surface that seals and protects metal from water, chemicals, salt, battery acid, fertilizers, and other corrosive contaminants. * Replaces POR-15 Super Start Kit
Step 1 - Clean it!: POR-15 Cleaner Degreaser (Formerly Marine Clean) removes grease, oil, dirt, and grime in one application without leaving residues, noxious fumes, or flammable solvents.
Step 2 - Prep it!: POR-15 Metal Prep (Formerly PREP & READY) provides the best adhesion for POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating on any metal surface, including shiny polished metal surfaces.
Step 3 - Coat it!: POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating is a high-tech, high-performance rust preventive coating designed for application directly on stable rust or seasoned metal surfaces. Provides permanent rust protection with a hammer-tough finish resistant to acids, alkalis, and repels all fuels and oils.

I purchased the small Stop Rust Kit a while back. I was disappointed in the amount or size of the can they give you but then realized it does last if used in a thin coat. My biggest problem with POR is drying time and bubbles. It takes damn near 24 hours to dry. If you start it you have to wait till its tacky and that takes forever so you give up, shut off the lights and go to bed. Then when it does dry it forms tiny bubbles. I did the cleaning process on my Dana 44 parts to the letter in the instructions. I then used the etching liquid as per instructions. Temps here in AZ were in the high 70's. At first the liquid applies smoothly...after some hours bubbles form. To fix it means sanding them off which is very hard to do. If you want a slick clean surface POR just cant be trusted. Spray paint will be much better. But, if you need a very hard rust resistant surface that doesn't need to be pretty...POR is your product.
So 31 years ago I bought this product and applied to the floor of my first car a 1969 VW type 1. Still in the same co diction as when applied. 31 years later in the same car that I still own I am treating a bit of corrosion by the break fluid reservoir and was applied as indicated and expect the same results. Highly recommended
Great product, does what it's supposed to do
Easy to use.
Stop Rust Kit
These products should only be handled when wearing latex gloves, eye protection, and NOSHA approved respirator. Always work in a well ventilated area.
Step 1. Apply our POR-15 Cleaner Degreaser to a surface, keep wet 10-15 minutes then rinse thoroughly with water and allow the surface to dry. For areas with noticeable build up use a stiff brush to break up material and continue to keep wet with POR-15 Cleaner Degreaser. It is important not to allow the product to dry on the surface prior to rinsing with water. POR-15 Cleaner Degreaser is a heavy duty water soluble cleaner that may be used over metal, wood, fiberglass, vinyl and concrete.
Step 2. Apply POR-15 Metal Prep to the bare metal surface, keep wet 10-15 minutes then rinse thoroughly with water and allow the surface to dry. It is important not to allow POR-15 Metal Prep to dry on the surface prior to rinsing with water. Once dry the surface may show a flash rust or white powdery residue this is perfectly normal. POR-15 Metal Prep provides the best surface profile and greatly improves paint adhesion to any type of metal surface.
Step 3. Wearing gloves and a properly fitted NOSHA approved respirator is recommended when applying POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating. It is recommended to apply two thin covering coats of POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating. Apply the first coat to the properly prepared substrate with the supplied brush. Apply the second coat when the first coat is almost dry, slightly tacky to the touch. If POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating is applied too heavy, brush marks may result in the finish. Do not apply this product if the humidity is above 70%. If the humidity is too high POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating will surface dry too quickly which may result in small bubbles in the finish. POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating requires a top coat only if exposed to direct sunlight.
If your project will be exposed to U.V. light, topcoat it with POR-15 Top Coat, POR-15 Detail Paint, or our two part POR-15 2K Urethane.
