Prepare and prime bare metal or directly paint rust with confidence. The clear-cut process allows for the proper cleaning, prepping, and coating of metal to create a non-porous surface that seals and protects metal from water, chemicals, salt, and other corrosive contaminants.
Step 1: POR-15 Cleaner Degreaser(Formerly Marine Clean) removes grease, oil, dirt, and grime in one application without leaving residues, noxious fumes, or flammable solvents.
Step 2: POR-15 Metal Prep(FormerlyPrep & Ready) provides the best adhesion for POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating on any metal surface, including shiny polished metal surfaces.
Step 3: POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating is a high-tech, high-performance rust preventive coating designed for application directly on stable rust or seasoned metal surfaces. Provides permanent rust protection with a hammer-tough finish resistant to acids, alkalis, and repels all fuels and oils.
Before: Heavily rusted diamond-plate pickup truck beds can be a problem, fix them permanently with the POR-15 3-Step System.
Step 1: Clean it! Remove loose rust and degrease the surface with a water-based Cleaner Degreaser
Step 2: Prep it! Neutralize rust and etch with Metal Prep.
Step 3: Coat it! After thorough washing and drying, coat with POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating, right onto the rust!
For areas exposed to U.V. light: Topcoat with Top Coat, 2K Urethane, or other top coat of your choice.
After: Now you have a PERMANENTLY repaired truck bed, that will NOT rust again.
I like the product and it works great. You guys need to go back to the way the old cans were where you could actually remove the lids. So frustrating when I distort the lid trying to remove it. Product 5 stars Container 1 star
Bought this because I have a lot of smaller jobs where larger can would spoil. This is a no brainer package for me. Had two cans that I couldn't take the lid off so I used an old style can opener to puncture holes on the bottom side and put it in a glass mason jar and painted. Other than that, paint went down great. Looks like it was sprayed on and dried hard as a rock.
I wanna say the paint looked like glass, it looked beautiful. I did all the prep work, I wire wheeled the frame, I did the degreasers, and their metal prep. I put the Por 15 on and it looked really good and I was really happy with it, and then I put on their topcoat as well. Looked great for about 5-6 days. I came back to inspect the frame because I am doing a frame off restoration on a ford f250, and I noticed all kinds of bubbles forming. I popped the bubbles and sheets of the paint was coming off. It looked like a thin layer of plastic. For how much I paid for this, I would have expected it to perform better. I would have been better off with chassis saver or rustolem for half the cost. I bought this because I was under the impression that this was the best product on the market. Extremely disappointing. I am a young guy and I don’t have a lot of money, but I like buying the best thing money can buy, and let me tell you, this is not the best.
Pros-
-I really liked the small cans, it made handling the paint really easy.
- The paint smoothed out well.
The cleaner/degreaser worked really well.
Cons
- The price. It’s way more expensive than any other paint on the market.
- The paint didn’t stick even after all the prep work. Maybe I did something wrong, but I’m highly doubtful of that. With all the prep work I did, it should have stuck. Rusteloem would have stuck to it with Half the prep work, and would have been way cheaper.
Overall, I wish I would have went with a different product.
What am I going to do fix the paint?
- Touch up with rusteloem, because it will actually stick.
- Spray on fluid film to prevent rust.
