    High-performance Top Coat Paint

POR-15 Top Coat DTM paint (formerly FlexCote, BlackCote) is a direct-to-metal UV Resistant coating designed to work on prepped bare metal and works incredibly well in all applications where there is a need to help protect substrates mildly susceptible to corrosion. When this top coat spray paint is used over the Stop Rust System, oxidation and harmful solar radiation will be kept in check to protect your surface from harsher conditions. Also, POR-15 Top Coat safety colors comply with OSHA required/recommended color codes for marking physical hazards and designating caution, to include protective equipment.

Under exterior UV exposure, POR-15 Top Coat has exceptional long-term sheen and color retention. POR-15 Top Coat can be applied directly to prepped metal substrates or previously painted surfaces, with no need for a primer or undercoat, and is formulated to form a robust barrier that sheds moisture to provide long-lasting protection. POR-15 Top Coat provides excellent adhesion and UV protection when used over POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating to provide a permanent barrier to corrosion ( Only Opaque Top Coat colors have enough UV protection for the Rust Preventive Coating ). For surfaces that are susceptible to extreme wear, frequent impacts, harsh chemicals, and more extreme conditions, try our 2K Urethane two part industrial topcoat on top of the Stop Rust System.

Love top coat. A good amount of paint with a professional type nozzle. Nice gloss and hard to chip.

    Absolutely amazing

By far the best paint I've ever used! I've used the most expensive to the cheapest to powder coating. I about recommend this to everyone. The only downside is when using a brush it's hard not to have runs. The positives out weighs the negatives by a land slide. Take your time use same amounts it goes far. You won't be disappointed in the finish product, it looks identical to powder coating. Hat's off to the engineer's. Customer for life!

    Good product.

SURFACE PREPARATION: All surfaces must be clean and free of all dirt, loose rust, oil, grease, wax, soap, loose paint, and any other matter.
Previously Painted Areas: Scuff surface with 180-220 grit sandpaper or scuff pad. Use POR-15® Cleaner Degreaser and POR-15® Metal Prep. Let the surface dry thoroughly and apply two thin coats.
Bare Steel or Aluminum: Scuff surface with 180-220 grit sandpaper or scuff pad. Use POR-15® Cleaner Degreaser and POR-15® Metal Prep, then let dry thoroughly and apply three thin coats.
For Corrosion Protection: Apply POR-15® Rust Preventive Coating to bare metal after POR-15® Cleaner Degreaser and POR-15® Metal Prep applications. When the POR-15 Rust Preventive coating is dry to the touch but is still tacky (has a finger drag), it is the best time to apply a second coat and a topcoat. If the Rust Preventive Coating fully cures, scuff it with 240-320 grit. Take care not to penetrate down to metal surface. Apply two thin covering coats of POR-15® Top Coat over the POR-15® Rust Preventive Coating. (*Only Opaque Topcoat colors have enough UV protection for the Rust Preventive Coating)

    LIQUID APPLICATION:
Follow surface prep directions. Stir POR-15® Top Coat until all solids are dissolved before and during use; DO NOT SHAKE. Using a pouring spout, dispense a portion into a separate container and seal the can at once, keeping the lid and grooves clean. Do not paint out of the can. Apply POR-15® Top Coat in two to three thin covering coats. Thin with POR-15® Reducer Solvent up to 10% if necessary. Spray: Use 25-30 lbs (170Kpa-210pa) pressure for normal gloss. Roller: Use an all-purpose short nap phenolic core roller. Use when surface to be painted, can, and outside temperature, are between 60˚F and 90˚F (21˚C and 32˚C).

DRY TIME:  It cures to touch in 30-60 minutes. Depending on ambient temperature and humidity, a second or third coat can be applied when the previous coat is dry; Usually after 2 hours. The second or third coats can be applied up to 72 hours after the previous coat(s). POR-15® Top Coat can take 3-4 days to reach maximum hardness, and longer in temperatures below 55°F (15°C).

CLEANUP:  Do not put leftover paint back into can. Clean all equipment immediately after use with an appropriate cleaner or POR-15® Reducer Solvent. Flush out all fluid lines and carefully clean pressure pots. Use clean solvent only. It is also good practice to periodically clean the spray tip or the fluid tip/air cap combination during the course of the working day.

    AEROSOL APPLICATION:
Follow surface prep directions. Protect surrounding areas from spray mist. For corrosion protection use the Stop Rust Preventive System as an undercoat. Use when surface to be painted, spray can, and outside temperature, are between 60˚F and 90˚F (21˚C and 32˚C). Shake can at least one minute before and occasionally during use. Spray surface with steady, even strokes at a distance of 6 to 10 inches. Several light coats give a better finish than one heavy coat.

DRY TIME: It cures to touch in 30-60 minutes. Second coat can be applied in 1-24 hours, depending on ambient temperature and humidity. POR-15® Top Coat can take 3-4 days to reach max hardness, and longer in temperatures below 55°F (15°C).

CLEANUP: To prevent clogs in spray nozzle, hold can upside down and spray until clear gas appears. Completely empty cans may be recycled or disposed of with regular trash. Dispose of partially empty cans responsibly. DO NOT puncture, incinerate or compact.
