The POR-15 3-Step Stop Rust System is designed to stop rust on metal surfaces and ensures the best results when applying POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating. Prepare and prime bare metal or directly paint rust with confidence. The clear-cut process when using this rust stopper for metal allows for the proper cleaning, prepping, and coating of metal to create a non-porous surface that seals and protects metal from water, chemicals, salt, acids, alkalis, and other corrosive contaminants.
Step 1: POR-15 Cleaner Degreaser (Formerly Marine Clean) removes grease, oil, dirt, and grime in one application without leaving residues, noxious fumes, or flammable solvents.
Step 2: POR-15 Metal Prep (Formerly Prep & Ready) provides the best adhesion for POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating on any metal surface, including shiny polished metal surfaces.
Step 3: POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating is a high-tech, high-performance rust preventive coating designed for application directly on stable rust or seasoned metal surfaces. Provides permanent rust protection with a hammer-tough finish resistant to acids, alkalis, and repels all fuels and oils.
Before: Heavily rusted diamond-plate pickup truck beds can be a problem, fix them permanently with the POR-15 3-Step System.
Step 1: Clean it! Remove loose rust and degrease the surface with a water-based Cleaner Degreaser
Step 2: Prep it! Neutralize rust and etch with Metal Prep.
Step 3: Coat it! After thorough washing and drying, coat with POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating, right onto the rust!
For areas exposed to U.V. light: Topcoat with Top Coat, 2K Urethane, or other paint of your choice.
After: Now you have a PERMANENTLY repaired truck bed, that will NOT rust again.

Weatherometer - accurate weather resistance indicator of cycling of conditions. The cycle is 30 mins sun at 135 degrees F, 30% relative humidity and 30 mins dark at 75-80 degrees F, 100% relative humidity 1,000 hours of exposure equals 5 years of simulated exposure in the Rocky Mountain region. There was no change in the 3 panels coated with POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating exposed for 2,000 hours.ASTM B-117 Salt Spray - specimens are exposed at specific locations and angles. It creates a 100% relative humidity condition in the exposure zone.
Two separate B-117 tests. One with new bare steel and the other with rusted steel. Both were coated with POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating.
Chemical Bath Test - After 200 hours of soaking in the following chemical bathes, panels coated with POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating experienced no changes: 10% hydrochloric acid, 50% sulphuric acid, 55% chromate, 85% phosphoric acid, 10% sodium hydroxide 98% methanol.
Raw Sewage Test - A metal box that houses a filter for raw sewage in a treatment facility was coated with POR-15 Rust Preventive. After a year of service, no viable undercutting or rusting was present on the housing.

Temperature Resistance - POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating is temperature resistant up to 450 degrees continuously. A test showed that no adhesion was lost at 450 degrees F for 10 hours.

Removed rust from my boat trailer axes and used all three products. Easy to use just follow directions. Drying time depends on weather. I gave my trailer axe two coats. Easy to apply with a brush. Make sure you have adequate ventilation. Tailer looks better than new with a Hard Shinny Coat.

I have used Por15 on a lot of projects. VERY TOUGH Layer after cured. It is affected by UV
and if not protected will wear off in a few years time if you do not coat it with a Top Coat Paint.
HUGE WARNING, Don't get POR15 on any moveable parts, hinges, or bolts that you may want
to remove later.
Once POR15 cures, it will lock any seams, bolts, nuts into basically ONE WHOLE PIECE.
MAKE SURE the surface is clean, Grease and Oil free. Use the cleaners.
POR15 goes on like a very fluid paint, IT WILL RUN if you apply too much at once so
be watchful. Be cautious as you can't brush POR15 too much during the dry period as
it begins to skim over, brushing will mess it up. Any voids, seams spaces between
moving parts WILL BE SEALED AS ONE SOLID PIECE. fair warning.
I am always using POR15 for some project to prevent rust or to stop rust. You can
just open the can and use a little if you store it carefully.
-- FOR STORAGE --
POR15 Cures from atmosphere, air and moisture. Keep the lid on as much as possible,
pour POR15 into a paper cup and put the lid over the can to only allow minimum exposure to atmosphere.
When you are done painting, use a plastic sheet over the can then close with the can top.
PUT the can in a plastic bag and store the can UPSIDE DOWN. Keeping in a tray
would be a good idea in case some of the POR15 leaks out.
The POR15 in the can WILL SKIM OVER on the top, the side with the Air inside.
IF you store a used POR15 can Top side UP, the top of the POR15 WILL skim
over. If the skim layer is not too thick, you can break it and access the product
under the skim layer. Better Idea to store the can upside down and let the
skim layer form on the bottom side of the can.
The POR15 should be usable when you open it again, unless you allowed long term exposure
to the atmosphere when you were using it. If the POR15 had a long term exposure to the
atmosphere, then it may cure completely in the can no matter what.
WHEN USING, wear old clothes and gloves.
POR15 on skin is difficult to get off and you may end up wearing it off. Try kerosene on a
paper towel to get most of it off the skin.
You CAN NOT get POR15 off of clothes or concrete and it will take literally YEARS for the
POR15 to wear off of CONCRETE.
Used this for the first time on my 1964 Dodge Polara floor pan. Works amazing. The floor is pretty much bullet proof now! And looks amazing!

Step 1. Apply our POR-15 Cleaner Degreaser to a surface, keep wet 10-15 minutes then rinse thoroughly with water and allow the surface to dry. For areas with noticeable build up use a stiff brush to break up material and continue to keep wet with POR-15 Cleaner Degreaser. It is important not to allow the product to dry on the surface prior to rinsing with water. POR-15 Cleaner Degreaser is a heavy duty water soluble cleaner that may be used over metal, wood, fiberglass, vinyl and concrete.
Step 2. Apply POR-15 Metal Prep to the bare metal surface, keep wet 10-15 minutes then rinse thoroughly with water and allow the surface to dry. It is important not to allow POR-15® Metal Prep to dry on the surface prior to rinsing with water. Once dry the surface may show a flash rust or white powdery residue this is perfectly normal. POR-15 Metal Prep provides the best surface profile and greatly improves paint adhesion to any type of metal surface.
Step 3. Wearing gloves and a properly fitted respirator is recommended when applying POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating. It is recommended to apply two thin covering coats of POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating. Apply the first coat to the properly prepared substrate with the supplied brush. Apply the second coat when the first coat is almost dry, slightly tacky to the touch. If POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating is applied too heavy, brush marks may result in the finish. Do not apply this product if the humidity is above 70%. If the humidity is too high POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating will surface dry too quickly which may result in small bubbles in the finish. POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating requires a top coat only if exposed to direct sunlight.
For topcoating use POR-15 Top Coat or POR-15 2K Urethane industrial topcoat. For best topcoating results, apply the top coat before POR-15 Rust Preventive coating dries. Topcoat should be applied while POR-15 Rust Preventive coating is still tacky.
To topcoat cured POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating, lightly scuff surface with sandpaper or use POR-15 Self Etch Primer to create a bonding surface for topcoating.
Gloves, eye and skin protection, and an approved respirator should be worn whenever handling these products.
